About Givelle and Lamano Law

Givelle Lamano is a criminal defense attorney in Oakland and the founding attorney of Lamano Law, a prestigious women-owned law firm with a long history of success. Ms. Lamano is known for the compassion and empathy she shows all clients, regardless of the crimes they are accused of. She takes the time to understand the factors that led to her clients’ arrest and their background. This helps her get to know her clients better and present them in the most positive light possible when representing them in court. Lamano Law also uses a 200-point inspection of every case that helps reveal problems with the police investigation to build a strong defense on their clients’ behalf.

Ms. Lamano has been recognized for her passionate client advocacy and professional achievement by receiving the Super Lawyer Rising Star award in 2017-2021, Super Lawyers Award in 2023, and the Client’s Choice award with Avvo from 2013-2016. She has been published in INC magazine and is a regular contributor to Forbes. She has also served as a panelist at Women in Leadership for her alma mater, Golden Gate University School of Law. She is licensed in state and federal courts in California.

Participation in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program will allow Ms. Lamano to continue her life mission of service to the community. Before founding her law firm, Ms. Lamano served as a court-appointed attorney for the Alameda County Bar Association. She founded the Three Strikes Justice Center, a non-profit organization focused on providing restorative justice to alleviate prison overcrowding through social justice efforts. She also served for five years as a Board Member for Insight Prison Project, an organization that provides services to prisoners and parolees across California. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Legal Services for Prisoners with Children, an Oakland nonprofit with the mission of reunifying incarcerated individuals with their families and Defy Ventures, a national nonprofit that helps people with criminal histories get a second chance after involvement in the criminal justice system.

These social justice efforts demonstrate Ms. Lamano’s firm belief that people are more than just a bad mistake they made once in their life. Before her criminal defense work, Ms. Lamano also represented low-wage and immigrant workers at the Women’s Employment Rights Clinic at Golden Gate University. The Lamano Law Office team supports various charitable and civic organizations throughout the Bay area. It is incredibly excited about the new opportunities the 10,000 Small Businesses program can provide the firm.
