GET TOGETHER NOW! CHARITY CONCERT UNITES LOS ANGELES THROUGH MUSIC, COMMUNITY, AND GIVING

Tribute to Jesse Colin Young Raises Support for Organizations Fighting Hunger, Homelessness, Mental Health Challenges, Animal Welfare, and Music Education

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 01, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Music lovers gathered at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, May 30, for the Get Together NOW! Charity Concert, an inspiring evening of music, remembrance, and philanthropy that celebrated the enduring message of unity championed by the late legendary singer-songwriter and humanitarian Jesse Colin Young (founding member of The Youngbloods)

Produced by Rock Cellar Productions in partnership with the Get Together Foundation, the event featured performances from more than 25 of Los Angeles’ most accomplished musicians and special guests, all coming together in support of charitable organizations serving vulnerable communities throughout Southern California.

The evening culminated in a moving, theater-wide singalong of the iconic 1969 anthem, “Get Together” –made famous by The Youngbloods– as performers and audience members joined voices in a powerful tribute to the song’s timeless call for peace, compassion, unity, and human connection.

“The message in the song GET TOGETHER remains as relevant today as ever,” said Kevin Wachs, Executive Producer and Co-Founder of the Get Together Foundation. “This event was our way of uniting people through music, and even when we have differences, music has a way of bringing people together. Jesse was not only an inspiring human being, but also a personal friend, so it was a great privilege to honor him this way.”

“We love having the opportunity to bring people together through our concerts, to support imporant causes and partner with organizations that feel as we do – that being creating opportunities to make a real difference in people’s lives.” – Lauri Reimer, Associate Producer and Director of Programming & Special Events for the Get Together Foundation

One of the evening’s most memorable moments came during a heartfelt presentation honoring Young’s extraordinary humanitarian and artistic legacy presented to Young’s widow Connie Young. The celebration highlighted his lifelong commitment to using music as a force for positive change.

Beyond the performances, the event raised critical funds to benefit four nonprofit organizations whose missions align with the Foundation’s commitment to community impact:

• The Midnight Mission, providing comprehensive services to individuals experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles
• Guitar Center Music Foundation, expanding access to music education and instruments for underserved communities
• Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, delivering vital mental health and suicide prevention programs
• spcaLA, protecting and caring for vulnerable animals throughout Southern California

A particularly emotional moment of the evening came when television personality and philanthropist Melissa Rivers delivered an impassioned speech highlighting the importance of mental health awareness and support. Rivers spoke about her longstanding involvement with Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services and the organization’s life-saving work providing counseling, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention resources to individuals and families in need.

Other special guests in attendance included legendary photographer Henry Diltz, Patrick Gallagher, Adina Porter, Courtney Stodden, and Giselle Fernandez (Spectrum News 1), among others.

Musical performances featured The Tribe & the Rockestration Strings led by Musical Director Laurence Juber, with an all-star lineup including Carl Verheyen, Rosemary Butler, Jean Fogelberg, Carly Smithson, Hunter Hawkins, Alex Jules, and many more, plus Lookout Mountain, led by Steve Postell, with James Raymond, Jeff Pevar, Kiki Ebsen, Steve Ferrone, Travis Carlton, Dan Navarro, a special appearance by actor/producer/singer Rob Morrow, and hosted by actress/singer Rebecca Holden.

The event was also livestreamed internationally on Alert the Globe, extending the concert’s message of unity to audiences in more than 50 countries around the world.

Founded on the belief that music has the power to heal, inspire, and unite, the Get Together Foundation created the event as a platform to bring communities together while generating meaningful support for organizations addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges, including hunger, homelessness, mental health, animal welfare, and arts education.

Donations are still being accepted to help support the Get Together Now Foundation and the many charities they work with here.
