KERR COUNTY, TX, April 28, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — National bestselling author William Elliott Hazelgrove will be in Texas from April 29 through May 3 conducting a four-day, on-site reporting project examining the July 4 flood at Camp Mystic that claimed the lives of 27 girls, as new legislative hearings and investigations continue to raise questions about the tragedy.
Hazelgrove will travel throughout Kerr County to interview individuals connected to the event, visit the site, and review firsthand accounts as part of a forthcoming nonfiction book project under contract with Bloomsbury Publishing.
The reporting effort comes at a time of heightened scrutiny, as state officials, investigators, and families continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the flood, emergency response, and decisions made in the hours leading up to the disaster.
“I am here to tell the story,” Hazelgrove said. “I am willing to talk to anyone on all sides—families, counselors, staff, officials—anyone who wants their voice heard. My goal is to listen carefully, document what happened, and present a clear and accurate account.”
The project aims to document the events of that day, understand the sequence of decisions and responses, and preserve the stories of those affected with care and accuracy.
Hazelgrove’s reporting will focus on gathering firsthand testimony and reconstructing a detailed narrative of the flood and its aftermath as investigations continue. The book will be published by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2027.
Hazelgrove is the author of multiple works of narrative nonfiction. This project marks his latest effort to examine a significant and ongoing story through on-the-ground reporting and interviews. The author can be contacted through his website www.williamhazelgrove.com
