LOS ANGELES, CA, May 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — On May 3, 2026, organizer and president of Lo Maximo LA, Araceli Mejia hosted her annual Mothers Celebration at Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International, bringing together more than 100 guests to honor 11 exceptional Latina mothers from across the Los Angeles area.
Originally from El Salvador, Araceli Mejia has dedicated years to recognizing the contributions of Latina women whose work strengthens families and communities throughout Southern California. Her annual Mothers Celebration has become a cherished tradition that highlights leadership, compassion, and service among Latina mothers.
This year’s event welcomed honorees alongside their entire families — including grandmothers, children, and grandchildren — emphasizing the importance of family unity, respect, and appreciation for the women being recognized.
Guests enjoyed an evening filled with cultural entertainment, including performances by Latina dancers and singers. One memorable performance featured a six-year-old girl whose remarkable singing talent captivated the audience. The celebration also included a buffet dinner and numerous opportunities for family photographs and community networking.
During the ceremony, the 11 honorees were invited on stage to each receive official Certificates of Recognition for their community work from the City of Los Angeles and also a certificate honoring their work from the County of Los Angeles. The women were recognized due to their outstanding contributions bettering their communities through their fields of expertise such as healthcare, legal attorneys, civil rights advocates and others.
On the importance of mothers to their families, Araceli Mejia gave this quote, “Mama, you are my refuge, my strength and my greatest joy. Today and always. Thank you for being my guide, my comfort, my example. There is no purer love than yours! Although the world changes, your love remains the same: it is infinite, selfless, and eternal. There is no job more difficult or more valuable than being a mother, and you have carried it out wonderfully. You are my heroine!”
Araceli Mejia selected the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International as the venue because of her familiarity with and use of The Way to Happiness educational booklets written by L. Ron Hubbard, which she uses to support her community outreach and educational efforts. The Way To Happiness promotes “Love and Help children” as well as “Honor and help your parents”.
