Faith does not begin with certainty but with wonder!
MAGNOLIA, TX, April 23, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Rev. Dr. Ken Macklin, respected theologian, educator, and ordained United Methodist clergy, announces the release of his latest book, Narrative Spirituality, a compelling work that blends theology, psychology, and lived experience to explore how faith can be understood and lived as story.
Drawing on more than four decades of pastoral and academic experience, Macklin offers readers a deeply reflective and accessible approach to spirituality—one that is both intellectually rich and personally transformative. Through stories, insights, and practical reflections, Narrative Spirituality invites readers to engage Scripture not as a static text, but as a living, dynamic force in their lives.
“At its core, this book is an invitation,” says Macklin. “An invitation to see spirituality as something lived and experienced—as a story that continues to unfold. Scripture becomes both a mirror of the human condition and a window into God’s transforming presence.”
Macklin’s journey as an author is rooted in a lifelong conviction about the power of storytelling. From early encounters with illustrated Bible stories as a child to later studies in theology and spirituality, he recognized that words have the ability to shape understanding and open new ways of seeing.
“I was inspired to write because I believe stories hold transformative power,” he shares. “Through storytelling, we create mirrors that help us see ourselves more clearly and windows that open us to others—and to God’s presence in the world.”
Narrative Spirituality stands apart through its integrative approach, weaving together theology, ethics, psychology, and real-life experience. Written with pastoral sensitivity and intellectual depth, the book reflects Macklin’s identity as a learner-centered teacher who walks alongside readers, encouraging them to expand their understanding through imagination and reflection.
“I wanted to write not as an authority speaking at others,” Macklin explains, “but as one who walks with others—inviting them into a creative and imaginative exploration of faith.”
The book emphasizes the relevance of spirituality in everyday life, addressing personal, communal, and societal challenges while offering readers a path toward meaning, healing, and hope. Macklin’s message is both profound and accessible, grounded in the belief that faith is meant to be lived, not just studied.
“Scripture is not just words on a page,” he says. “It is a living Word that breathes life into our spirits—it’s like the finger of God moving through the soil of our souls.”
Macklin’s writing journey, which he describes as “adventure, enlightening, and fun,” reflects a lifetime of reflection, teaching, and spiritual direction. Since retiring from parish ministry, he has dedicated himself to writing, continuing to explore and articulate the insights that have shaped his life and vocation.
Rev. Dr. Ken Macklin currently serves as an adjunct professor at California Lutheran University, where he teaches spirituality, theology, and ethics. He holds advanced degrees in theology, Christian spirituality, and Eastern Orthodox studies, including a Ph.D. in Theological Studies. His previous works include Mirror & Window: Narrative Spiritual Reading with an Integrative Mindset, Narrative Spirituality and Healing, Mark: The Inverted Gospel, and the novel The Echoes of the Innocents.
When he is not writing, Macklin enjoys spending time with his wife Anna, their three adult sons and grandchildren, as well as hiking, reading, and meaningful conversation. He remains deeply engaged in teaching, spiritual direction, and lifelong learning.
