She’s EmPOWERed initiative shines a spotlight on young changemakers
DETROIT, MI, April 22, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — During National Student Leadership Week Empowered Flower Girl® is shining a spotlight on the next generation of changemakers through its She’s EmPOWERed initiative—an ongoing effort to amplify the voices, stories, impact and leadership journeys of young people.
Observed annually in April, National Student Leadership Week recognizes the impact of student leaders and encourages schools and communities to elevate youth voice and service.
Rasheda Kamaria Williams, founder and chief empowering officer of Empowered Flower Girl, says this moment calls for more than celebration. It calls for listening.
“Student leadership today goes far beyond titles. Young people are navigating social pressure, digital drama and real-world challenges while still choosing to lead and serve. When we elevate their stories, we don’t just inspire others. We validate their experiences,” Williams said.
Through the She’s EmPOWERed initiative, Empowered Flower Girl invites nominations of female-identifying and gender-expansive changemakers ages 5-25 across the U.S. and Canada who are making a difference in their schools and communities. The initiative centers storytelling as a tool for empowerment and builds on Empowered Flower Girl’s broader mission to transform the way young people relate to one another and themselves.
“Leadership is not just about being seen. It’s about showing up,” Williams added. “The most powerful student leaders are often the ones creating change through service and empathy.”
During National Student Leadership Week and beyond, Empowered Flower Girl is encouraging educators, parents, mentors and community leaders to nominate student changemakers by visiting https://bit.ly/shesempoweredform.
In addition to She’s EmPOWERed, Empowered Flower Girl has facilitated youth empowerment initiatives like the “Be the Impact Virtual Summit,” which showcases young people making/aspiring to make positive contributions to society and provides them with tools and resources to pursue their passion for community service.
